Greater Mental Health of New York’s residential programs are centered around the belief that individuals with behavioral health conditions can recover and make choices regarding their living, working, and social environments, allowing them to live the most independent lives possible. We’re here to support you in finding a safe and comfortable place to call home while providing the supports and services for your recovery journey. 

We offer a variety of Residential Services, from supportive housing and treatment apartments to congregate community residences.

• Treatment Apartment Program (TAP): The Treatment Apartment Program (TAP) is designed to be transitional and the operations are licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health. These programs provide support and skills training to individuals in an apartment type setting. Using an individualized assessment and service planning process, residents develop meaningful goals, make progress towards their personal recovery, gain skills and independence, learn to use community resources, and develop key community supports.
• Supportive Housing: Here, our supportive housing counselors will work with you on skills like handling finances, navigating landlord-tenant issues, and connecting with community resources. Once in these permanent homes, our support continues for as long as you need it.
• Community Residences: Greater Mental Health of New York operates three community residences: Joseph R. Bernstein House, J. Martin Cornell Residence, and Nanuet House. The Cornell and Nanuet residences provide, respectively, special residential environments for individuals with visual and physical disabilities and individuals of the Deaf community. Each residence provides community-based, supportive living and has on-site staff 24 hours a day.

Greater Mental Health of NY cannot accept referrals for residential services directly; requests must be made through the Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH) or The Rockland County Department of Mental Health (RCDMH) Single Point of Access (SPOA).
