Statement on Violence
This January, Briana Braverman, a Youth Peer advocate with our Youth Assertive Community Act (ACT) Team, was acknowledged during NYS Gov. Kathy Hochul’s 2024 State of the State Address. Briana, a dedicated youth leader, has tirelessly supported young New Yorkers through our Youth ACT program. This initiative empowers youths facing mental health challenges, enabling them to remain within their schools and communities instead of opting for in-patient treatment.
During the address, Gov. Kathy Hochul specifically highlighted Briana’s impactful progress in youth mental health, stating that NYS is “… building on the progress she’s already made.” Hochul’s commendation underscores Briana’s remarkable achievements and the collective dedication of our Youth ACT Team, providing an example for New York State’s 2024 goals in transforming mental health support for our youth.
Congratulations, Briana!
