Breaking the Silence: Advocating for Mental Health
“Learning to be in an ‘asking stance’ with humility is critical in allowing people to trust and feel more comfortable with not only providers, but co-workers, friends, and family.” – Stacey Roberts, LCSW
In honor of Women’s History Month, the Westchester Women’s Summit hosted “Breaking the Silence: Advocating for Mental Health” a powerful panel discussion on mental health, featuring Lara Fenig Stangel, LMSW, Director, Westchester County Employee Assistance Program; Stephanie Marquesano, Founder & President of the harris project; Reverend Daphne Swinton, LMHC, Licensed Therapist with WJCS and Minister; Victoria M. Wilkins, PhD, of NewYork-Presbyterian’s Westchester Behavioral Health; and Stacey Roberts, LCSW, CEO of Greater Mental Health of New York.
Panelists and audience members discussed the importance of advocacy, community education, and navigating systems of care, as well as dispelling myths and breaking down stigma. We are grateful for the opportunity to bring this important conversation to life!
