A spotlight on our substance use recovery, treatment, and support services.

Greater Mental Health of New York is committed to supporting individuals and families impacted by substance use through compassionate, accessible, and research-based care. Our clinic in downtown White Plains offers a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment where clients can access personalized treatment and recovery services.

Whether you are seeking help for your own substance use or supporting a loved one, our clinic provides a range of person-centered services designed to meet unique needs. Our team includes professionals with diverse backgrounds and specializations, ensuring that every person receives tailored care aligned with their unique recovery goals. We also have access to our full menu of Greater Mental Health’s 50+ programs and services to address these goals, such as finding safe housing during treatment, securing stable employment, and mental health care for affected family members, like counseling for children and adults with loved ones working towards recovery.

In addition to direct treatment, Greater Mental Health offers referrals to community resources, including medical and dental providers, to promote whole health well-being. Accessibility is a priority—the White Plains clinic is conveniently on the Bee-Line Bus system, and appointments are available the same day or next business day. Greater Mental Health also is focused on affordability, so our clinic accepts many insurance plans and offers a sliding-scale fee structure to ensure accessibility for all – regardless of insurance coverage.

We also offer support groups specifically for clients of the Substance Use program, where many find healing in sharing their experiences with others who understand the journey. Some of our groups include:

  • Co-occurring CBT Group
    • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is based on techniques of focusing on the cognitive processes that produce feelings. This is a type of talking therapy that helps by changing people’s behavior and attitudes by working to reach a deeper understanding of thoughts, emotions, and beliefs.
  • Seeking Safety Group
    • Seeking Safety is a present-focused therapy that helps clients attain safety from trauma (including PTSD) and substance abuse by emphasizing coping skills, grounding techniques, and education.
  • Women’s Support Group
    • This group will address unique recovery challenges related to gender, relationships, and societal expectations, in addition to standard substance use recovery topics. The group will discuss issues like understanding substance use, trauma, mental health, self-care, and navigating relationships, while also exploring topics like motherhood, body image, and cultural expectations.
