Greater Mental Health Awarded the 2025 Mental Health America Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health
TARRYTOWN, NY (May 2025)—Greater Mental Health of New York is pleased to announce the appointment of Darcie Miller, LCSW-R to the role of Chief Operating Officer.
“We are thrilled to welcome Darcie to Greater Mental Health of New York, where she will play a vital role in overseeing and enhancing clinical and non-clinical programs and services, including our brick-and-mortar clinics, community-based services, children’s services, and quality operations,” said Greater Mental Health of New York CEO Stacey Roberts, LCSW. “Her inspiring passion and dedication to the people we serve is matched only by her extensive experience in clinical and program oversight and deep knowledge of the behavioral health systems in our region. I look forward to working closely with Darcie as she joins us in our mission to promote mental health through advocacy, community education, and direct services.”
Miller was most recently Orange County’s Commissioner of the Departments of Social Services and Mental Health and her tenure with the County Departments spanned nearly 25 years. Miller has extensive experience in administration and leadership, in addition to direct service provision as a social worker.
Miller began her social work career in hospice and rape crisis clinic settings and later worked in private practice where she counseled individuals, couples, and families. She began her tenure with the Orange County Department of Mental Health in 2001 as a Social Worker and in 2003 Miller became the Director of Forensic Services, where she ensured that the mental health needs of individuals involved in the court system were being met. As Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Mental Health, Miller was responsible for shaping various behavioral health programs ranging from supporting those in treatment for substance use disorder, to programs for individuals with development disabilities, to supervising residential programs. As the first dual Commissioner of the Departments of Social Services and Mental Health, Miller led efforts to expand, develop and integrate the multitude of services provided by both agencies and was responsible for spearheading initiatives like the Sex Offender Community Management Task Force and the Children’s Mental Health Initiative System of Care.
“I am excited to begin a new chapter as Chief Operating Officer of Greater Mental Health of New York. Clinic services have been a longstanding passion throughout my career, and I am looking forward to ensuring that our clinical care remains high quality, affordable, and accessible for those who need it most,” she said. “I am impressed by the menu of dynamic programs and services at Greater Mental Health, and I am grateful to continue my commitment to the well-being of the Hudson Valley region in Westchester and Rockland after a nearly 25-year tenure at the Orange County Departments of Mental Health and Social Services.”
