Both our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/greatermentalhealth.org\/es\/sos-group\/\">Survivors of Suicide (SOS) support group<\/a>\u00a0y\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/greatermentalhealth.org\/es\/postvention\/\">Servicios de apoyo posvenci\u00f3n<\/a>\u00a0build off of this idea and are specifically meant for individuals who are experiencing grief over the loss of a loved one due to suicide.\r\n\r\n<strong>Suicide Prevention Training Opportunities at Greater Mental Health<\/strong>\r\n\r\nOffered to staff, community members, and professional partners, our trainings focus on mental health and wellness, evidence-based practices, and suicide prevention.\r\n\r\nOur trainers are equipped to offer these suicide prevention trainings to our community partners:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><strong>QPR, which stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer<\/strong> \u2014 the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Our QPR suicide prevention training teaches the steps to become a resource for someone who might be struggling. Learn how to recognize warning signs, intervene, and refer someone in crisis to the appropriate resources.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>LivingWorks safeTALK<\/strong> is a three to four-hour training designed to create safer communities through teaching people to be more alert to signs that someone may be thinking of suicide and help develop the skills to connect them to further help. Using a simple yet effective model, LivingWorks safeTALK empowers everyone to make a difference.<\/li>\r\n \t<li><strong>Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)<\/strong> is a comprehensive, interactive workshop designed to equip participants with essential skills to support individuals at risk of suicide. Delivered over two days in person, this evidence-based training combines powerful audiovisuals, dynamic group discussions, and hands-on practice through realistic simulations. Whether you\u2019re a caregiver, community member, or professional, ASIST empowers you to make a difference when it matters most.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/greatermentalhealth.org\/es\/trainings\/\">Aprende m\u00e1s<\/a>\u00a0about our trainings or contact Brian Gens, Greater Mental Health\u2019s Senior Director of Training, Advocacy, and External Affairs at <a href=\"mailto:GensB@greatermentalhealth.org\">GensB@greatermentalhealth.org<\/a> to coordinate a Suicide Prevention training for your workplace, event, or organization.\r\n\r\n<strong>American Foundation for Suicide Prevention<\/strong> - <strong>Hudson Valley \/ Westchester Chapter<\/strong>\r\n\r\nThe <a href=\"https:\/\/afsp.org\/chapter\/hudson-valley-westchester\">American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Hudson Valley \/ Westchester Chapter<\/a> focuses on eliminating the loss of life from suicide by delivering innovative prevention programs, educating the public about risk factors and warning signs, raising funds for suicide research and programs, and reaching out to those individuals who have lost someone to suicide.\r\n\r\n<strong>Westchester County Suicide Prevention Coalition<\/strong>\r\n\r\nThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westchestercountysuicideprevention.org\/\">Westchester County Suicide Prevention Coalition<\/a> is made up of a diverse group of community members and organizations working collaboratively to reduce suicide risk and deaths through education, awareness, data-driven initiatives, and inclusive support across Westchester.\r\n\r\n<strong>The Healing Garden at Ridge Road Park, Hartsdale NY<\/strong>\r\n\r\nIn 2022, the <a href=\"https:\/\/namiwestchester.org\/healinggarden\/\">Healing Garden at Ridge Road Park<\/a> in Hartsdale was created to establish a permanent place for reflection for family members and loved ones of those who ended their lives by suicide. The Healing Garden is the result of a collaboration between Westchester County Departments of Community Mental Health (DCMH), Parks, Recreation and Conservation, NAMI Westchester, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (ASFP).\r\n\r\n<strong>Local Events<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<strong>Peer Support and Resources are available at the <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.whiteplainslibrary.org\/events\/?d=2025-08-22&amp;v=grid\"><strong>Biblioteca p\u00fablica de llanuras blancas<\/strong><\/a><strong> every Tuesday from 12:30 to 4:00 pm <\/strong>\r\n\r\nCome talk to Greater Mental Health\u2019s peer specialists in the lobby of White Plains Library every Tuesday from 12:30-4:00 pm.
